The Power of Spoken Word: How to Speak your Dream Life into Existence

Every self-help article, book and webinar I’ve read or watched always puts an emphasis on speaking your dream life into existence; saying everything you wish to manifest out loud. Not just thinking about it in your head, but actually writing it down and reciting it to yourself; literally speaking it into existence. I never understood this concept, and thought it was silly to sit in front of my mirror talking to myself. I’m sure my roommates would think I was crazy as well.

I had my list of mantras I would say to myself, in my head, every morning. Although I was thinking these things, I wasn’t really feeling them.

A few weeks ago, a new song called “Spoken Word,” by Chase & Status came on a Spotify playlist I follow, because, you know, Spotify knows me better than an ex I got in a near death accident with. One of the first verses in the song says, “I believe in the meaning of spoken word .┬áThe feeling of freedom and healing the bleeding.”

Those lyrics really spoke to me. I need to incorporate spoken word into my own life. Instead of just thinking, I need to be saying and feeling the things I want to manifest.

I recently went to a SoulCycle class with a new instructor I’ve never had before. It was your normal Soul class, until the very end. Before we left class for the day, the instructor had us speak aloud a mantra. We repeated after him, and by the end of the mantra, I was in tears. For the first time, I felt it. Saying those words aloud gave me the power to manifest anything I wanted. The words weren’t anything complex, I was overwhelmed with emotion at the time so I don’t remember all of what we said, but it was something along the lines of “I have complete power and control over my feelings and my life.” I felt all the confidence in the world, I have the ability to achieve my dreams and nothing can stand in my way.

What is your dream life? What does it consist of? What is something you can repeat to yourself everyday to help you manifest it? What is a weakness or area of improvement?

I’ll give you an idea:

“Today, I am going to conquer my fear of approaching those who I believe can benefit my business. Instead of sitting on the sidelines thinking about how great of an idea this is, I’m actually going to turn it into a reality.”

This resonates with me because so often, I come up with amazing ideas and collaborations, and I let them remain that: ideas. I get too nervous that someone will shoot down my idea or that it won’t be successful. Instead of taking a leap and trying, I stick to my comfort zone. However, when you step out of that comfort zone, amazing things happen.

Just last week, I ran into one of my biggest blogging inspirations at a bar in New York City. I sat there for about an hour debating whether or not I should approach her. Why would I do that? Why was it even a question? The answer is obviously YES!!! Who wouldn’t take that opportunity? I finally got the guts to approach her, last minute of course, as she was leaving. I ran after her, we began talking and she said “Let’s take a selfie! Tag me in it!” O M G. My jaw dropped. I posted the picture the next day on Instagram, she commented on it thanking me for approaching her and even reposted it to her page! How crazy is that?! I was in fan-girl heaven but that never would’ve happened if I played it safe.
